WILMINGTON — Ira Hugh Jaffe passed on Feb. 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in the Bronx on Jan. 14, 1945, to Leo and Dora Bressler Jaffe, Ira joined a proud family lineage of entertainment industry innovators. His father, Leo, was the Chairman of the Board of Columbia Pictures. His brother, Stanley, became an Oscar-winning producer and President of Paramount Pictures. Always the trailblazer, Ira chose music over film and proceeded to set new standards in the music publishing industry.

Throughout his vibrant career, Ira introduced a diverse array of talent, such as Journey, Eminem, Shakira, Bjork, BoyzIIMen, Linda Perry(4NonBlondes), and countless others of all genres, leaving an indelible mark on music history around the world.

Among Ira’s many gifts was his unique ability to recognize talent, whether it be in an employee, a performer, or a writer. He touched -and changed – many lives. He was loved and respected by employees, artists, and industry professionals in equal measure. Ira was well-known for his kindness, his generosity, and his one of a kind sweetness.

Ira leaves behind his wife Sonda, his sister Marcia Margoluis, and his absolute proudest legacy, his 3 children – Wendy, Lea, and Eric – as well as his daughter-in-law, Kelly, and his precious granddaughter, Norah.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leo and Dora, his brother Stanley, his brother Howard, and his sister Andrea.

May Ira’s beautiful spirit of kindness and love continue through his many friends and loved ones.
