SOUTHPORT — Billie Wood Milton, 97, of Terra Bella Assisted Living in Southport, entered her heavenly home on January 7, 2026.
Born on October 27, 1928, in Wallace, NC, she graduated from Clements High School in 1945. She met the love of her life, Hugh McRae Milton, in Wilmington, NC and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage, before his death in 2021.
Billie was a wonderful homemaker and mother, who adored her kids and volunteered at schools, in the community and at church. She was a wonderful cook, always making hot breakfasts and delicious suppers. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing in Carolina and Wrightsville Beach and in later years, enjoying line dancing at The New Hanover County Senior Center. She enjoyed entertaining and playing cards, especially bridge.
As her children got older, she entered the workforce and worked as a bank teller and then retail store manager.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and 7 siblings. She is survived by 2 children, Ruth Bradley and husband Jim of Tulsa Oklahoma and Rev. Stuart Milton and wife Teresa of Carolina Beach, 4 grandchildren Daniel and Justin Bradley of Tulsa, OK, Hannah Milton Nguyen and husband CJ of Leland, and Wesley Milton and wife Sara of Albuquerque, NM and 2 great-grandsons and a sister, Linda Williams of Wilmington and numerous nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be sent to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Carolina Beach, 300 Harper Ave. Carolina Beach, NC 28428.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
