WILMINGTON — Norma Rose Angelino, 92, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Union City, New Jersey, Norma was the youngest of three daughters. She and her sisters were very close and were part of a very large extended family. Norma grew up in Union City and was the Valedictorian of her high school class, earning a full scholarship to New York University, where she graduated with a degree in Biology.
In February 1955, Norma married the love of her life, Alphonse (Al) Angelino. Soon after, Norma and Al moved to Upstate New York where they raised four children, Laura, Thomas, Marie, and Stephen. Norma and Al were devout Catholics and were active in their church, Immaculate Conception Church of Glenville, NY. They had many friends, loved to travel, and enjoyed an active social life which included many dinner parties and bridge nights.
Norma taught high school Biology for many years and loved being around “young people.” Norma always said her greatest gift was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter. She and Al attended every family event that they could – birthdays, school concerts, graduations, weddings, and their grandson’s ordination in Rome, Italy. When Al passed away in December 2015, Norma and Al had been married for 60 years.
In 2023, Norma relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina to be closer to family. She settled into a retirement community, Trinity Landing, where she made many new friends. She kept busy with family visits, playing bridge with her new friends, and attending the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wilmington. She enjoyed Saturday nights by attending church and having dinner with her church group. We were so blessed to have Norma in our lives. She was outgoing, made friends easily, and positively touched the lives of everyone she met.
Norma is survived by her four children – Laura (John) Pisarek, Thomas (Peggy) Angelino, Marie (Arnold) Briscoe, and Stephen (Shirley) Angelino, eight grandchildren – Daniel Pisarek, Jessica Briscoe, Fr. David Angelino, Amy Angelino, Kristina (Casey) Schoonmaker, Katelyn (Cory) Peek, Sarah Briscoe, and Emily Angelino, and one great-granddaughter – Savannah Schoonmaker. Norma also had many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved like they were her own children.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, John and Beatrice Yandolino, sisters Marie Yandolino and Beatrice Cosenza, and her husband Alphonse Angelino.
A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Rd., Wilmington, NC at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026. Burial will be in New York, where Norma will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Al, on a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local food bank or charity of your choice.
