WILMINGTON — Blanche Rastetter passed away quietly on December 11, 2025 at the age of 85 in Wilmington, N.C., leaving behind her sons Bobby Bowker and Marty Main, sister Irene lyter (Ron). Her good friend Jack Pope who she referred to as her “Guardian Angel.” She was pre-deceased by her brothers Sonny Slater, Lester Slater, her sister Claudine Force and her parents Clyde and Catherine Slater
Blanche Cherished her many nieces, nephews and cousins near and far. Time and distance never changed the significance family and friends were to her or her love for them. She loved reminiscing about her childhood and her time spent with family especially her mother and grandmother whom she loved and missed dearly.
Born on November 26, 1940 and also raised in Riverside N.J. Blanche eventually settled in Tuckerton N.J. with her her Husband Bob Bowker where she worked for the Postal Service in the surrounding areas. She also resided in Staten Island N.Y. with her then second husband Robert Rastetter for many years.
After retiring and relocating to NC in 2004 in Carteret and Pender Counties, her life dream was to own a horse farm. Her love for all animals lead her to devoting her time and volunteering at many different animal shelters and sanctuaries for all gods creatures small and large. There was nothing she would not sacrifice to tend to the ones in need.
Blanche’s longevity gave her the opportunity to experience many of what life had to offer her through the years and she appreciated them all. Those memories stayed with her well into her later years.
Blanche will be sadly missed but we find comfort in knowing that she is at rest and is reunited with her family before her. Please join us in spirit as we honor Blanche’s memory.
