BURGAW — Jeaneth Kattan Rivenbark, 86, entered into eternal rest on Friday December 5, 2025, surrounded by her family.

She was born on October 14, 1939, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, where her strong foundation of culture and faith began. After moving to the United States in the mid-1960s, she continued to carry her Honduran heritage with pride throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Abraham Kattan and Amada Martinez Kattan, Jeaneth was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Rivenbark; son, Joseph Abraham Avery; sister, Nery Kattan Fields; and son-in-law, Thurman Wirt Casey.

Jeaneth is survived by her daughter, Maria A. Casey; grandchildren, Mindy Hewitt, Elizabeth Casey Langdon (Brittany), Vanessa Starr Avery, and Julia Avery; great grandson, Elijah; also, Jeaneth is survived by remaining sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews in Honduras.

Jeaneth spent many years working at Block Shirt Factory before continuing her career at the Oxford Sewing Plant in Burgaw. At home, she cared for a collection of plants, each one thriving under her nurturing hands. She could make anything grow, and her home reflected that gift. She found joy in the kitchen and was always cooking, especially when making tamales, pouring love into every dish she prepared.

Her granddaughters held a special place in her heart, and she often expressed her love by making rosaries for them. This sacred craft reflected her devotion to her Catholic faith and her desire to surround her family with prayer. Jeaneth was a faithful member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, and her religion guided her throughout her life.

Strengthened by a lifetime of devotion, she now enters the heavenly home prepared for her by God, resting at last with the loved ones who welcomed her home.
