ROCKY POINT — Hilda Brown James, 77, of Rocky Point, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare in Wilmington.
She was born May 20, 1948, in Wilmington, to the late Joe Oliver Brown and the late Trudy Carolina Brown.
Hilda was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hilda is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jesse Ray James; her sons, Jesse Allen James and wife, Terrie, Jeffrey Ray James and wife, Jennifer, Joshua Reed James, and wife, Brooke; her sisters, Betty Pittman, Janice Conrad; her grandchildren, Kristina Cavenaugh and husband, Philip, Kimberly Meshaw and husband, Taylor, Emma Casteen, and husband, Trey, Carrie James, Misty James, Ethan James and wife, Kayla, Blake James; her great- grandchildren, Jorja Cavenaugh, Lainee Cavenaugh, Paisley Meshaw, Ella Meshaw, Logan James, Maddie James; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Hilda was also preceded in death by her sisters, Sally Pittman, Bobbie Jenkins; and her brothers, Oliver Brown, James Brown.
