WILMINGTON — Alton Thomas Moore, 73, of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 9, 1952, in Little Washington, North Carolina, to the late Macon Edward Moore and the late Mary Bridgeman Moore.
Alton was a loving father and husband, appreciated the simple things in life. He was married to his best friend and love of his life, Debbie, for 52 years. Alton loved fishing and the beach. He never missed a party or family event even if he did not feel up to it. Jamming with his besties and making music was one of his favorite past times. Sundays were reserved for church with his family and finished up with a burger and a banana split at Highway 55. Alton struggled with heart and kidney disease for the last 4 years but kept a witty sense of humor that everyone loved.
Alton is survived by his wife, Debbie Moore; his daughter, Erica Paige; his son, Brian Thomas Moore; his brothers, Rodney Moore, Vance Moore and wife, Pat; his sister, Phyllis Stevens; sisters- in- law, Linda Williamson and husband, Joey; Margie Coley and husband, Donald, Sharon Johnson and husband, Maurice; his grandsons, Jesse James, Logan James; many loved nieces and nephews; lifetime best friend of 55 years, Joe Meabon, and his favorite dog, Layla.
In addition to his parents, Alton was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Dalton Edward Moore, who he missed so much every day.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hanover Humane Society.
