LELAND — Kathryn Beacham Pickels, a cherished wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, in Leland, North Carolina, at the age of 71. Born on November 10, 1954, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, Kathryn lived a life marked by dedication, love, and a treasure trove of knowledge and wisdom.

Kathryn’s career as a paralegal was distinguished and impactful. She brought her expertise and passion to Michael Best Attorney at Law and The Forrest Firm, where she was respected by colleagues and clients alike for her integrity and attention to detail. Her professional journey was underpinned by a strong educational foundation, having attended Marlboro Academy in Bennettsville, South Carolina, and St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, North Carolina. She attained certification by the N.C. Board of Paralegal Certification and was a licensed N.C. Notary Public.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kathryn reveled in the simple joys of life. Traveling, watching Carolina basketball,and beach outings, were among her favorite pastimes, where she delighted in shelling along the shorelines and soaking up the tranquility of the ocean. Kathryn also had a keen interest in politics, often engaging in thoughtful discussions and staying informed about the world around her. Most importantly, she treasured spending quality time with her beloved husband, Keith Pickels, with whom she shared many beautiful memories.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Kitty Usher Beacham and Robert Martin Beacham. She leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted husband, Keith Pickels; her brother, Robert Beacham II, and his wife Jennette of Laurinburg, NC; her nieces, Emma Gray Beacham of Newland, NC, and Samantha Sheppard Wallace and her husband Chad of Washington, NC; her nephew, Robert Beacham III, and his wife Kayla of Wisconsin; great-niece, Willow Wallace of Washington, NC; and her sister-in-law, Tracy Sheppard, and husband Glenn,of Washington, NC. Each of them will hold Kathryn’s memory close to their hearts, cherishing the warmth and wisdom she imparted to those around her.

In keeping with her wishes, a private family celebration of Kathryn’s life will take place at Ocean Isle Beach, as to be announced at a later date. As her family gathers to honor her, they will remember her as a beacon of love and resilience whose warmth and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Kathryn Beacham Pickels will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
