WILMINGTON — Jacob A Brinson “Jake”, of Wilmington, NC passed away on November 21st.

Jake was born in Ayden, NC on August 12, 1939, to Alonza Dewey (AD) and Gertrude Craft Brinson.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Alonza, Joseph, and Daniel Brinson and sisters Dorothy, Mayfield and Rachel.

Jake is survived by his beloved wife Lizsiel “Liz” Brinson. Survivors include daughter Kimberly “Kim” Newton (Trent), son Hugh Brinson, grandchildren Trevor Newton and Bailey Brinson, sister Mildred Gootee, and brothers Ray and Gabriel “Gabe” Brinson (Judy), numerous cousins and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jake graduated from New Hanover high school in 1957 and attended Wilmington College. He turned a paper route at the age of 12 into a 43-year career with the Wilmington Morning Star (Star News), where he was a successful sales manager in the classified advertising department. He later became a highly sought-after consultant, which led to travels all over the U.S. and abroad.

Along with travel, Jake enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques and was an avid reader.
