WILMINGTON — Charles L. Sutton, Sr., 91, of Wilmington, NC, died Monday, November 10, 2025, at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove.
He was born on September 1, 1934, in Robeson Co., NC, the son of the late John Henry Sutton and Mae Branch Sutton. His wife of sixty-seven years, Patricia Branch Sutton (deceased, 2017), his daughter, Linda Sutton Kopotic, three brothers, Robert, James Howard and Horace Sutton, a sister, Louise Sutton Collins, and a grandson, Christopher “Chris” Bowling, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his son, Charles L. Sutton, Jr. (Melinda); three granddaughter, Merry Bowling Anderson (Billy), Kimberly Sutton Hampton, and Brandy Sutton Jones (Stan); six great-grandchildren, Taylor Bowling (Shayla), William Anderson, John Nedley (Peyton), Nicholas Hampton, Alex Jones and Madyson Jones; one great-great-grandson, Luke Bowling; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sutton retired from GE in 1993 with twenty-five years of service. At that time until 2006, he owned and operated Charles Sutton Siding and Windows, a company he had started some years prior to retirement. He was a member of Masonboro Baptist Church, Past Deacon, and member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charles’ memory to Gentiva Hospice.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove and Gentiva Hospice for the professional care and attention shared with them and with Mr. Sutton during his time in their care.
