LELAND — Walter “Wally” Wallace, 92 passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Wally was born August 12, 1933 in Somerset County, PA to the late Stanley Wallace and Nellie Severn Ryzer Wallace.
Wally married Marilyn in 1962 and had two children together, Kim and Kevin. He lived his early years in Binghamton, NY and the majority of his married years in Williamsville, NY and St Petersburg, FL. He and his wife lived for the last 2 years in Leland, NC. He graduated from Union College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned his MBA from University of Rochester. He worked for NYNEX and Verizon for 35 years and retired at age 58. He served in the military as Captain in the Air Force for 2 years. Family was first and foremost of importance to him and spent 54 summers at their cottage in Canada together with family and friends where many special and lasting memories were formed.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn A Wallace; daughter, Kim (Wallace) Shackelford and husband, Randy, of Leland, NC; son, Kevin Wallace and wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Brian Shackelford, Brittany (Shackelford) Boltersdorf, her husband, Kyle Boltersdorf, Sarah Wallace, Eli Wallace, and Eamon Wallace.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family at 11:30 AM Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Creekview Restaurant in Williamsville, NY.
Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wally’s memory may be made to Mercy Ships.
