WILMINGTON — Mamie Lee Williamson Harris, 92, of Wilmington, North Carolina left her earthly life for her eternal rest on Friday, September 19, 2025.
She was born on October 24, 1932, in Columbus County, North Carolina; the daughter of the late Hosea Percy and Mattie Lee Williamson. Mamie was preceded in death by her husband Henry Frederick Creech and later by her husband Mack Lean Harris and by her grandson James Seth Creech. She was also preceded in death by her brother H.P. Williamson, Jr. and her sister Mary Ann Hilburn.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her son Jimmy Earl Creech (Debbie) of Greenville, NC; daughter Patricia Creech Williams of Jensen Beach, FL, and grandchildren Kelly Amanda Williams, Joseph “Jay” Williams, Jr. (Caitlin), David Andrew Creech (Greer) and Emily Katherine Holland (Ryan); seven great grandchildren; her sister Elsie Dowless (Donald); her brother David Williamson (Patsy); and close family friends David and Sharon Pitts.
Mamie was a member of Winter Park Baptist Church in Wilmington. Over the years she was very active in her church and enjoyed reading and studying her Bible.
Mamie was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was Jimmy’s biggest cheerleader when he played four years of college football and never missed a game. With a green thumb, Mamie enjoyed being outside working in her yard and loved her flowers and flowering trees. She enjoyed numerous crafts, hobbies, reading, gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She was also a great seamstress and made many of Pat’s dresses as a child. During her later years, Mamie comunicated with over 50 pen pals from all over the United States. Mamie lived a full life and truly loved others.
Having a tenth-grade education and later her GED, she was employed with a large industrial supply company as a bookkeeper and had many responsibilities and duties. She loved her job and took great pride in doing her best. Most of all, Mamie’s children were her life. She loved them and was fully devoted to them. Treasured memories of Mamie will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
