Brenda Faye Dicheck Stophel, 79

LELAND — Brenda Faye Dicheck Stophel, 79, of Leland, NC, died Friday, September 12, 2025, at Novant Healthcare New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Pamlico Co, NC, on September 17, 1945, the daughter of the late Stephen and Letha Salter Dicheck.

Faye, as she was called, graduated from Campbell College (now Campbell University). She worked for UNC Hospitals (then North Carolina Memorial Hospital) followed by being a motel owner and operator. She was a proud member of First Presbyterian Church and throughout her life placed her faith above all else.

She was a dedicated and loving wife who always thought of her family and friends before herself. Faye was a generous and caring person who never missed an opportunity to help others and always did so with an inspirational attitude. Her selfless giving could be seen in her willingness to volunteer at the hospital, her commitment to numerous charities, and her love for animals and animal rescue.

Faye loved all sporting events at UNC, she enjoyed travel (especially to Disneyworld and Hawaii), and trips to Broadway in New York. Faye was also a talented Artist and also enjoyed growing and arranging flowers . She was a very patriotic person who loved her country and was especially proud of her father and his military service in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.

Surviving is her beloved husband, Philip W. Stophel; a niece, Melissa Woodard; a sister, Sue Neil; and several other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
