WILMINGTON — Ted W. Funderburk, 91, of Wilmington, NC, died Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at his home.
He was born on May 10, 1934, in Charlotte, NC, the son of the late Theodore Hershel Funderburk and Mamie Idella Stikeleather Funderburk. He was also preceded in death by a first wife, Barbara Jean Anderson Funderburk as well as a second wife, Sarah Kirkpatrick Funderburk. Also remembered is his son, David Wayne Funderburk, and his daughter, Norma Funderburk Kerr, both of whom preceded him in death.
Surviving are four sisters, one brother, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ted was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School and then North Carolina State University. He retired from the NCDOT where he was an engineer. Ted was an avid golfer and was an active member of Pine Valley Country Club.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington.
