Dorinda Kay Cadle Justus, 77

Dorinda Kay Cadle Justus (Atlantic Cremation Services)

SOUTHPORT — Dorinda Kay Cadle Justus, 77, left this world for eternal life with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and found peace on August 25th 2025 following a determined battle with Parkinson’s.

Born on January 30, 1948, and the eldest daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys Cadle. Dorinda had thirteen brothers and sisters: Kenny (deceased), Royce, Mary (deceased), Daphna “Gail” (deceased), Ronald (deceased), Danny, Theodosia, Arthur (deceased), Deborah, Sharon, Darryl, Cheryl and Garry. She also had six half siblings and 35 nieces and nephews. Most importantly, she was a wonderful mother to three children: Kimberly Justice Speas, Lorisa Justus Harbuck (Husband: Jon), and Ronald Wayne Justus (wife: Brandy), and an even more amazing grandmother to nine grandchildren: Jacob, Felisha, Taylor, Jared, Jessie, Erica, Keely, Addison and Kadence. Mom’s legacy continues with seven great grandchildren and counting.

Dorinda grew up in Baileysville, West Virginia. She graduated from Baileysville High School in 1967. Upon graduating high school, she married Ronald “Ron” Justus and moved to Columbus, Ohio to pursue career opportunities. After working for New York Life, she and her husband returned to West Virginia to raise their family. After devoting sixteen years to home-making, she returned to pursuing her career aspirations, and their family moved to Lexington, North Carolina in 1989. Dorinda worked for Lexington Furniture Industries, Thomasville Furniture Industries and ASCO Power Technologies until her retirement. She has lived in Southport North Carolina near her son and grandchildren since 2021 enjoying time with family.

Dorinda was an amazing cook who never needed a recipe and embraced her Appalachian heritage, her Biscuits and Gravy were legendary. She looked forward to family gatherings and always prepared an array of dishes on each occasion. She adored and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her other passion was playing Bingo with her sister, Theo and going on cruises with Theo, Tammy and Peyton.

Our mother had a heart of gold. She would not hesitate to help others and was the most generous person one has ever known. She was always there for you if there was ever a need. Giving her last dollar brought her so much joy. She was a life-long member of Coal Marsh Missional Baptist Church in Glen Daniel, West Virginia and Baptized in Stephen’s Lake during the coldest month of the year. She always said that Jesus protected her from the chilling water. We know Jesus has welcomed her to her eternal home. If we could summarize a brief description of our mother, we can attest that she was loving and an amazing mother, wife, and grandmother. However, she was also a jack-of-all-trades. She taught us the importance of loving and trusting God and knowing how to build a house from top to bottom. It was nothing to see her on the roof of a house with hammer and nails or hanging sheetrock.

Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.

Finally, the family asks that in honor of Dorinda that you write your Congressman and ask for the repeal of Day Light Saving Time. Dorinda wanted everyone to get back on the Lord’s Time.
