LELAND — Suzanne Jessee Aber, a loving mother, devoted wife, and cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born in Racine, Wisconsin, on December 9, 1951, Sue was the daughter of Walter and Diane Jessee. She spent her early years in Atlanta, Georgia, and Mountain Lakes, New Jersey—where she was a graduate of MLHS Class of 1969.

Through the course of her adult life, Sue lived in the Bay Area of California and in Henderson, Nevada, before settling in Leland, North Carolina in the early 2000s. There, she found a true sense of home and community, surrounded by neighbors and friends who became like family. She was an active volunteer with the Assistance League of Greater Wilmington, where she devoted her time and energy to helping others and supporting local programs that made a real difference in people’s lives. Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Aber, and her cherished daughter, Jessica Aber. She was also predeceased by her parents, Walter and Diane Jessee. She is survived by her devoted brothers—Daniel Jessee, James Jessee, Thomas Jessee, and John Jessee—as well as her loving stepchildren, Penny Aber-Kahn, Bob Aber, and Cindy Aber.

Her family remembers her for her strength, compassion, and enduring sense of humor.

The family offers its deepest thanks to Penny and David Kahn for the extraordinary support, love, and care they gave to Sue, especially in her later years. Their kindness brought immeasurable comfort to both Sue and those closest to her.

Sue’s legacy of love, service, and quiet resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In keeping with her wishes, a private service will be held in Richmond, Virginia in the fall.
