SOUTHPORT — Joy Francis Myers, 82, of Southport, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025 with her family at her side.
Born April 27, 1943 in Greenville, MI, she was a daughter of Loren and Mildred Strotheide.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gary Lee Myers; her son, Chris and his wife, Sheila; her sisters, Carol Hoskins, Jan Zawacki, Jean Lundquist and her husband, John, and Beverly Garrison; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Beunna Lake, Robert Strotheide, and Loren J. Strotheide.
Joy was a very social person. She enjoyed any event or holiday that family was involved in. She was very involved in her son’s sports activities, both attending and transporting him to the games. Joy also was very proficient at sewing and crafts.
Her many years of employment involved customer service and retail which gave her a chance to socialize. Joy never met a person she didn’t make her friend.
In her later years she continued her antics entertaining the staff and residents at the landings of Oak Island.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Gentiva Hospice.
