WILMINGTON — Charlotte Wilkinson Martin, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Born on October 29, 1939, she lived a life filled with love, creativity, and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren B. Martin; her sons, Charles E. Swartz and J. Walter Swartz; and her parents, Walter and Lennie Wilkinson.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce S. Ingraham and her husband Ben; her stepson, Andrew Martin and his wife Christina and their family; her sister, Helen Frye and her husband Frank; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all whom she cherished.
Charlotte was a gifted artist and children’s book author who brought beauty, joy, and imagination to those around her. She also found great fulfillment in her long career with the federal government, where she served with pride and dedication.
Charlotte will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She had a generous heart and a deep desire to make others happy—through her art, her words, and her everyday kindness.
There are no arrangements for a service at this time; a private family service will be held at a later date. Charlotte will be laid to rest at Ward’s Cemetery in Cedar Grove, West Virginia.
