SUNSET BEACH — Janet Y. Dyer, born November 3, 1941, in Boylston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, at the age of 83 in her beloved Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
Janet was a devoted homemaker whose love extended beyond her family to the many lives she touched. She had a passion for golfing, bowling, and cooking, and found immense joy in sharing these interests with those around her. Her culinary skills were unmatched, especially when it came to preparing lobster and whole fried clams, a nod to her cherished Massachusetts roots.
She moved to Sunset Beach 28 years ago, drawn by what she believed to be the best walking beach. This move, though taking her physically away from Massachusetts, never severed the deep connections she maintained with her friends back home, who remember her fondly for her kindness and warmth.
Even after moving from Massachusetts 40 years ago with her husband William, their friendships endured, a testament to the emotional generosity Janet offered so freely. She was always willing to lend an ear, providing comfort and wisdom to those around her.
Preceded in death by her son, Tim Dyer, Janet’s legacy is lovingly continued by her surviving family: her devoted husband of 63 years, William; her daughter, Michelle, and her husband Mike; her son, Francis, and his wife Leigh. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Kaleigh, Jacob, Lilly, Nikki (Andrew), and Miles, and her treasured great-granddaughter, Matalin Jane, affectionately known as “MJ.”
Janet’s life was a testament to the beauty of giving and the power of enduring love. Her family and friends will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
