WILMINGTON — On July 1st, 2025, Heaven welcomed another angel, Carolyn Fountain Register, 87 of Wilmington, NC.
Carolyn was born in Wilmington NC on June 5th, 1938, to the late Millard James Fountain Sr. and Dorothy Sasser Fountain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years Aaron Register of Wilmington NC, and son Kenneth Aaron Register, brother Jim Fountain Jr, and identical twin sister Dorothy Fountain Horton.
She is survived by her daughters Tammie Register Crumlich (Matthew) and Teresa Register Mintz (Randy), granddaughters Heather Mintz Figueroa (Jason), Katherine Mintz Heustess (Isaac), great grandchildren Carter Figueroa, Emma Figueroa, Emery Heustess, Giovanni Figueroa, Gavin Figueroa, along with many nieces, nephews, friends, family and dear friend Winston Futch.
Carolyn was a graduate of the 1956 class of New Hanover High School where she was class President during her sophomore year; member of the Senate, Glee Club and Dramatics Club. Along with her twin sister Dorothy, she was a high school cheerleader, chosen to be on the Azalea Festival court, and worked with their grandfather, Mayor of Carolina Beach, W.G. Fountain at the family hotel, The Royal Palm, and together attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
Carolyn worked at National Airlines Wilmington NC as an Air Traffic Communicator, where she met and married her husband Aaron Register. After the birth of her two daughters, she acquired her Real Estate Brokers license which she maintained until she was 84 years of age. She was Vice-President of Rupert Hobbs Realty, Raleigh NC and went on to establish with her twin sister Dorothy, C&D Real Estate Associates and established with her husband Aaron, Register Investments, LLC. Carolyn was very family-oriented and welcoming to all as if family. She had a special bond with her twin sister Dorothy that showed in all they did together, even down to matching clothes and being called “Fountain” when no one could tell them apart. Carolyn and Aaron truly loved their life together traveling the world, serving their community, loving their family unconditionally, cheering on the Tarheels, and helping anyone in need. Together they were part of the Raleigh Cotillion Club and were founding members of The Capital City Club and North Ridge Country Club. Carolyn had a love of life that she shared with our family in every way. She was there for us without fail; always our cheerleader! Carolyn cherished our family and would proudly say, “I started all this!”
