Mildred Hamrick Morrow, 93

Mildred Hamrick Morrow (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — Mildred Hamrick Morrow, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025 at the age of 93. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, steadfast devotion, and a life lived in service to others.

Mildred was the devoted wife of 70 years to Tommy Morrow, her lifelong partner and the love of her life. Their marriage was a true partnership—two peas in a pod—marked by Tommy’s endearing willingness to do most anything Mildred asked.

A dedicated and loving mother, Mildred guided her children, Keith and Angie, through the highs and lows of growing up with patience and support. Whether it was Scout meetings, sewing Halloween costumes at the last minute, bake sales, or showing up to every milestone, Mildred was there—fully present and involved.

After retiring, Mildred reveled in her role as grandmother with boundless energy and love. She often reminded Tommy that her grandchildren needed her, and together they would travel to Winston-Salem or Atlanta to be there for soccer games, dance recitals, and birthday parties. Her kitchen became a sanctuary of warmth, where angel biscuits, countless waffles, and cookies were made with love and shared enthusiastically with her grandchildren who she loved to teach her skills.

Mildred’s green thumb and deep love of gardening bloomed in every season, just like her relationships—with neighbors, community, coworkers, and her Spencer Baptist Church Sunday School class.

One of her closest bonds was with her sister and best friend, Naomi Hamrick McCraw. The two shared countless hours talking on the phone, laughing, and offering each other comfort. As Mildred often said, “There isn’t anything better than having a sister.”

Mildred’s life was a testament to showing up—with grace and with a heart full of love.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Wilmington, North Carolina, for the loving care, compassion, and dignity they showed Mildred in her final chapter.

She is preceded in death by her husband Tommy Morrow and her son Timothy Morrow. She is survived by her children Keith (Robin) and Angie; her grandchildren–Zachary (Catherine), Brett (Jen), Samuel, Claire, her great-grandchildren – Harper, Cole, Regan, Ava and Luke; her sister Naomi; and a host of extended family and friends who cherished her deeply.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to a charity supporting environmental conservation or Alzheimer’s and dementia research—causes that were close to her heart.
