LELAND — John “Jack” Kelly Stainback, Jr., 84, of Leland, NC “Brunswick Forest Community” passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025 at his home with loving family at his bedside.

Jack was born in New York, NY, and was one of two children born to the late John K. Stainback, Sr. and Jane Melo Stainback. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Robert (Bobby) Kelly Stainback, and his sister, Jane Dougherty.

Jack was a proud member of Local 40 Ironworkers in NYC; the younger generation affectionately referred to him as “Jurassic Jack”. He was a longtime member of AA for over 51 years. Paying it forward was important to him. Jack loved to play golf with friends as well as our neighborhood group of men and women for as long as he was able to.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Teresa Stainback; three sons, Daniel Gregory Stainback, (Alyson), William Christopher Dempsey (Christine), Joseph Forames (Kerri); three daughters, Tracy Forames, Susan Milopsky (Rob), Lauren Forames; five grandchildren, Cassidy, Nate, Robert, Ryan and Julian.

A Celebration of Life service will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in the Brunswick Forest Fitness Center, “Leland Room” at 2701 Brunswick Forest Parkway, Leland, NC 28451.
