WILMINGTON — Audrey Jane Engels, 92 of Wilmington, NC died peacefully at home on June 14, 2025.
Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Henry Jack Engels.
She is survived by her three children: daughters Sherry Jane Clain and Krista Engels, and her son Todd Engels. She is also lovingly remembered by her daughters-in-law, Vickie Causby and Deirdre DeBlasio Engels; her cherished grandchildren, Jamison Engels and Amanda Engels and her beloved dog, Lucy, who was always by her side.
Audrey was born on October 24, 1932 in Hackensack, New Jersey, she spent most of her life in the Garden State before retiring to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1993. During her retirement Audrey embraced a vibrant and fulfilling life surrounded by friends and family, playing cards, golfing, and traveling. Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Audrey will be remembered for her joyful presence, her wit and sense of humor, her deep devotion to family and friends, and the way she brought people together with kindness and grace.
The family would like to express a special note of appreciation to the Nurses and CNA’s from Lower Cape Fear Life Care for their devotion in providing care to Audrey over the last several years.
In her memory, the family suggests donations to this worthy organization.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in New Jersey, where Audrey’s journey began and where her memory will be honored among loved ones.
