WILMINGTON — Alberta “Bert” Hatfield McFayden, age 100, passed away peacefully at her home in Wilmington, NC on June 22, 2025. Bert was born October 31, 1924 in New Town, West Virginia to Kirk and Agatha Hatfield. Her husband, John McFayden, whom she married November 6, 1947 preceded her in death in November 1997.
Bert is survived by her four children, Mary Gore (husband Mike), John McFayden, Marc McFayden (wife Adrienne), and Jane McFayden; grandchild Kathy Hufham; step-grandchildren Jackie Rettick (husband Matt and children) and Corbin Otis; great-grandchildren David Hufham (fiance Naomi) and Katy Hufham; special great-nephews Matthew and Andy Graves.
A graveside service will be held at McFayden Cemetery in Fayetteville, NC on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10:00am.
