WILMINGTON — Mary Ann Brunner, a devoted wife, loving mother, and dedicated nurse passed away peacefully on May 27th, 2025, surrounded by family, she was 72 years old.
Mary Ann’s life was a testament to compassion, strength and unwavering Love.
As a licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), she served her community with great care and skill for many years, always putting the needs of her patients first and offering comfort during their most vulnerable moments. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond the walls of any hospital or clinic-it was deeply felt by all who knew her.
She was a faithful and loving wife to her husband, Richard Brunner with whom she shared a strong and enduring partnership for 48 years built on mutual respect and love. Together they raised two sons, Joshua and Matthew, who were the pride and joy of her life. Mary Ann’s greatest accomplishments were not in accolades or titles but in the warmth of her home, the strength of her family, and the love she poured into every moment spent with them.
Mary Ann will be Remembered for her gentle heart, her sense of humor and the grace with which she lived her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and selflessness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Preceded in her death is Mother Elsie (Johnson) Sorensen, Father Robert Sorensen, Brother Joseph Sorensen
Survived by her husband Richard, Son Matthew, Son Joshua and his wife Nikki Brunner, granddaughter Olivia Brunner, Brothers David Sorensen, James (Mauna) Sorensen, William (Kathleen) Sorensen, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whose lives were made better by her presence and warmth.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter in remembrance of Mary Ann’s life and love of animals.
She will be Deeply Missed, Forever Loved and Never Forgotten.
