Cheryl Ann Chestnut Lovitt (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

WILMINGTON — Cheryl Ann Chestnut Lovitt, 58, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Wilmington, Cheryl was a true local whose roots ran deep in the community she loved. She spent her entire life here, raising her family and forming lifelong friendships. Cheryl’s greatest joy in life was her family—especially her six grandchildren, whom she adored with every ounce of her being. She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughters, Kimberly Bryant and Samantha Lovitt, and she poured her heart into giving them the best life she could.

Cheryl was instrumental in helping her ex-husband build Lovitt’s Wrecker Service and, later on, Lovitt’s Auto Sales. She dedicated herself fully to being a homemaker, making sure her children always felt supported, loved, and cared for. Her unwavering presence left a lasting imprint on the lives of those around her.

If you knew Cheryl, you knew love. Her big, beautiful smile and joyful spirit lit up every room she entered. She welcomed everyone with open arms, never judging and always seeing the good in people. No matter who you were or where you came from, Cheryl made you feel like family.

She loved dancing, going to the beach, and simply having a good time in life. Cheryl brought laughter and light to every occasion, and she never missed a chance to enjoy the moment and make others feel seen, heard, and loved.

She leaves behind her ex-husband and lifelong friend, Dale Lovitt; her two daughters, Kimberly Bryant and Samantha Lovitt; and her beloved grandchildren: Bradley, Annabella, Randy, Skyla, Ariel, and Liam. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her deeply. Cheryl’s legacy is one of unconditional love, warmth, and acceptance—a legacy that will live on through everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be announced soon to offer a time and place where friends and family can gather and share memories of the incredible woman she was.

The family asks that you honor Cheryl by spreading kindness and love in her memory—just as she did every day of her life.
