WILMINGTON — Robert Richard Hall, a devoted family man and honorable veteran, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 78.

Born on June 9, 1946, in Middleborough, Massachusetts, Robert lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family and country.

Robert proudly served his nation as a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict in the US Navy. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career, as he became a very active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Calabash Post 7288 and was also a cherished member of the BPO Elks Club. These organizations were integral to his life, providing him with opportunities to continue supporting fellow veterans and contributing to his community.

Family was the cornerstone of Robert’s life. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gustaf Robert Hall and Millicent Evelyn Sekinger Hall; his son, Robert Brandon Hall; and his sister, Linda Lee Spell.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Lydia Hall, who stood by him through life’s journey. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Jamieson Brandon Hall and his wife, Marie of Aberdeen, Maryland; Jonathan Brandon Hall of Baltimore, Maryland; and Nicole Brandon Wheelock and her husband, David of Wilmington, North Carolina. Robert was also a proud grandfather to two granddaughters, Riley Tarnove and Rachel Henderson, who brought immense joy to his later years. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Anne Heidecker of Calabash, North Carolina, along with many cherished friends and relatives.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date to honor his memory and contributions.

While flowers are appreciated, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Robert’s honor to Tunnels to Towers, an organization dear to his heart.

Robert Richard Hall will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his commitment to others, and, most importantly, his enduring love for his family. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
