OAK ISLAND — Diane M. Chaney, age 90, of Oak Island, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Chaney was born March 4, 1935, daughter of the late Edward and Hildred Littlefield. Diane lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed riding her horses, singing in the church choir, and spending time at the beach with her family. She served in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary along with her husband for over 20 years.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Geoffrey Chaney; two daughters, Lesley Sowle (Mark), and Millie Lane (Greg); seven grandchildren, Sarah Mike, Joshua Mike, Whitney Hines, Tiffany Chandler, Tyler Lane, Erica Riley, and Ariel Rodriguez; and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and five sisters, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Chaney and grandson, Jonathan Chaney.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
