WILMINGTON — James Stanley Kilpatrick, aged 95, passed away on April 25, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on November 6, 1929, in Teachey, North Carolina, Mr. Kilpatrick lived a life characterized by dedication, service, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
A devoted employee, Stanley worked with the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, Mostly in Fayetteville Central Post office, demonstrating reliability and commitment that marked his lengthy tenure. His career was a testament to his steadfast work ethic and perseverance.
A Veteran of the United States Navy, Stanley served his country with honor, embodying a legacy of service and patriotism that carried through his life. After retiring, he relished living simply and quietly, finding joy in the small things that many often overlook. Originally a resident of Teachey, NC, and after his retirement he moved to Topsail Beach for several years after, he later moved to Wilmington where he continued to cherish his peaceful lifestyle.
Stanley is preceded in death by his loving parents, John Burton Kilpatrick and Dollie Graham Kilpatrick and a brother, J. B. Kilpatrick, Jr. also two sisters, Dorothy Petersen and Lois Cooper also niece Karen Neuwirth. Left to treasure his memory are his brother, Graham Kilpatrick, and sister-in-law Shelby of Wallace also a sister-in-law Mildred Kilpatrick of Wilmington; several nieces nephews alongside a good friend and care taker Bob Griffin and his wife, Millie. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him as a kind-hearted and humble man.
In honoring Stanley’s wishes, no formal services are planned at this time.
