Margaret Eady (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

WILMINGTON — Margaret Chestnut Eady, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved sister, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, in Leland, North Carolina. She was born September 11, 1947 and spent most of her life in the Wilmington, North Carolina area.

Preceded in death by her parents, George Arnold Chestnut and Netha Grice Chestnut, Margaret is survived by her loving children: her son, Bryan Eady and his wife Lauren, and her daughter, Crystal Karwacki and her husband Jon, both of Leland, North Carolina. Her greatest joy was being “Gammie” to her four grandchildren: Rachel Karwacki, Dean Karwacki, Benjamin Eady, and Joseph Eady, who will forever remember her smile and the love she showered upon them.

Margaret grew up surrounded by her siblings: Lee Bryan Chestnut, Carolyn Skipper, Malcolm “Buddy” Chestnut, and Marilyn Craver, all of whom preceded her in death, and Cecil Chestnut of Leland, who survives her. Their shared memories and strong bond were a foundation for her life.

Margaret found fulfillment in a career in sales within the telecommunications industry, where she formed lasting friendships and earned respect for her dedication and hard work. Beyond her professional life, Margaret immersed herself in her passions. She found great joy in floral arranging, creating beauty wherever she could. She adored making memories with her grandchildren, whether it was baking cookies with an abundance of chocolate chips or soaking up the sunshine on a hot beach. A true lover of simple pleasures, Margaret delighted in Elvis’s timeless tunes and savored the comfort of her chili adorned with melting onions and cheddar cheese.

“She was a complicated woman who loved her family passionately,” words that resonate with those who knew her best. Her family will remember her fiery spirit and encompassing love, which are indelible legacies she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Margaret’s memory may be directed to the American Heart Association, a cause close to her heart.

Margaret’s grace, laughter, and love will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
