Jacque Edward Rhydderch (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

HAMPSTEAD — Jacque “Jack” Rhydderch, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in Hampstead, North Carolina, at the age of 78. Born on June 12, 1946, in Johnson City, New York, Jack lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an enduring passion for golf.

Jack was the cherished son of the late David Oliver and Frances Laurel Rhydderch and spent his early years in New York. He found great joy in managing several country clubs in Boca Raton, Florida. Jack’s career also included a rewarding tenure as a hotel manager for Omni International Hotels and owning the Caddyshack Golf Shop, which allowed him to share his love of the sport with others.

A true enthusiast of the links, Jack was an avid golfer who dedicated many hours to perfecting his game. Beyond golf, he found harmony in the music of Bob Dylan and cherished moments spent at the horsetrack. Jack’s heart was intimately connected to the majestic mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, and Colorado, where he found peace and solace.

He was preceded in death by his devoted parents and is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Grace Rhydderch. Jack’s legacy lives on through his children, Heather Shannon (John), Hope Zunzunegui (Joe), and David Rhydderch (Maryanne), as well as his adored grandchildren, Connor Shannon (Kaitlyn), Elizabeth “Lizzy” Shannon, Jackie Zunzunegui, and Brynn Rhydderch. He will be dearly missed by his sister, Gail Reines (Howard), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished Jack’s warmth.

Jack was particularly fond of his childhood friend Mac, who he now joins in heaven, sharing a cold Miller Lite. His enduring love for his children and grandchildren was a testament to his kind spirit and generous heart.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Jack’s memory, see link below.

Jack Rhydderch leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
