WILMINGTON — Constance Paige Ramsay-Swank-Lyman of Wilmington, NC, born on 2-9-55, died early in the morning of Thursday, March 27, 2025. She was 70 years of age. Connie was born in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, a western Chicago suburb. She was the daughter of the late Harold & Patricia Ramsay. She was preceded in death by her first husband Ronald A. Swank. Connie married again in 2002 to Charles Lyman, Jr.
CShe is survived by husband Charles, her two sons, Eric and Gregory Swank (Emily), her brother Robert E. Ramsay (Mary) and sister Susan P. Ramsay (Steve Gunn), 3 grandchildren, all of Wilmington, NC & a niece and a nephew, as well as Charles children Ben & Stephanie Lyman.
In late 1972 Connie moved to Wellsboro, PA area from Schaumburg, Illinois several months after her graduation from Schaumburg High School. Her parents & siblings made the same move earlier that year but Connie stayed behind to help her Uncle Walter B. Schauer run the restaurant for the several months remaining until its pending sale later that year. While residing in Wellsboro, she attended Alfred University and then transferred to finish her education in Williamsport, PA at WACC. While in school in Williamsport she and Jill Vroman were roommates. The decades following that time the two of them created happy memories that both families will never forget.
While residing in the Wellsboro, PA area, Connie met and married Ronald A. Swank in 1975. She worked for Citizens & Northern Bank in Wellsboro, PA and then as Assistant to Dr. Robert Edgar Wagner in Coudersport, PA.
In 1979 Connie & Ron moved from the Rexford area of Pine Creek Valley, Wellsboro, PA to Wilmington, NC. In the years after their move to Wilmington, NC, Connie & Ron were blessed with 2 sons, Gregory A. Swank & Eric R. Swank who became the focus & love of their lives. While in Wilmington, Connie created and operated M.A.S.H., a temporary-employment company focusing on providing Nurses for the growing medical community in Wilmington. She also managed the Human Resources department of a large medical center.
Connie & Ron and their two sons moved north to Canandaigua, NY in the summer of 1997 where they had a new house built on 5 acres. While there they had a horse & 2 cows along with her beloved labrador retrievers. The 2 cows became pets as was no surprise to anyone who knew Connie & her love for animals. In 2001 her husband passed away. While still residing in up-state New York she married Charles Lyman Jr. In 2006 Connie, Chuck and Eric moved back to Wilmington, NC where she lived the remainder of her life. Greg followed to Wilmington later after finishing College in Buffalo, NY, where he married Emily Swingly Swank.
The most important thing to Connie was family, especially her sister Sue. She enjoyed family holidays, get togethers & playing with her grandchildren most of all.
A Celebration of Life for Connie will be held 5:00pm, Friday, April 11th, at the Lions Gate Club House, 1800 Eastwood Road, (near Wrightsville Beach)
