WILMINGTON — Dr. Jeffery A. Nichols, a devoted servant of Christ, esteemed minister, and professor of Religion and Philosophy, passed on March 29, 2025, at the age of 72. His life was a testament to faith, wisdom, and dedication to spreading the Gospel.

He was born on June 10, 1952, to Richard & June Nichols. Jeff honorably served in the Navy before answering God’s call to the ministry. He earned a Doctorate in Theology and dedicated his life to teaching God’s Word. As a minister, he used his sense of humor to make the Gospel relatable yet still impactful.

Dr. Nichols’ influence went beyond preaching—he was a mentor, counselor, and shepherd to many. His words led countless individuals to Christ, guiding them in their spiritual journeys with love and grace.

He is survived by his daughters: Mandy Roberts and her husband Rickson and their sons Carter and Hudson and Tara Bailey and her husband Michael and their sons Asher and Jaxson.

He is also survived by his brother, Robert Nichols and his wife Tina and their children Kenneth and Chelsea and their extended families. His legacy of faith, love, and dedication to the Lord will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Visitation with the family will be held at Anchor Baptist Church Saturday, April 12, from 6-8 p.m. as well as Celebration of Life on Sunday April 13th at 2:00 pm.
