WILMINGTON — Grace Foy Russell, born on May 17, 1933, in Vanceboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on March 4, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Her gracious spirit and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A cherished member of Longleaf Baptist Church in Wilmington, Grace found great joy and solace in her faith, devoting herself to reading her Bible daily. Her church family was an integral part of her life, providing a community where she both gave and received love and support.
Grace delighted in spending time with her family, especially enjoying the company of her grandson and his wife and children. Her home was often filled with warmth and laughter during family gatherings, where she shared her love through cooking and creating cherished memories. An avid crafter, Grace spent many joyful hours sewing, crocheting, and knitting, sharing her creations with those she loved.
Preceded in death by her husband, Howard Russell, in 2020; her parents, Clyde H. Foy and Annabell Lee Foy; and her brother, Robert H. Foy, Grace leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
She is survived by her son, Fred Russell, of Leland; her daughter, Rhonda Jones, and her husband, Sam, of Belville; her beloved grandson, Kyle Russell and his wife, Mallory; and her precious great-grandchildren, Tilly, Bexley, and Banner, of Charleston, SC.
In memory of Grace Foy Russell, we celebrate a life well-lived and a woman dearly loved. May she rest in eternal peace.
