SOUTHPORT — Robert Lawrence “Bob” Klug, age 82, of Southport, North Carolina passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Mr. Klug was born December 27, 1942 in Queens, New York, son of the late Cecil Robert Klug and Veronica Tillotson Klug.
Bob began working for Con Edison in New York City in 1962. After five years, he joined IBM as a Customer Service Representative. His career with IBM spanned 39 years, most of these years as an IBM service tech, and eventually as an account manager for IBM at Merrill Lynch.
Moving to St James opened up another chapter in his life that was filled with new discoveries and friends. Bob was a volunteer with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. He enjoyed boating, fishing, travelling and sharing those time with friends, so he joined the St James Fishing Club, Southport Sail and Power Squadrons, Brunswick Newcomer Club and the St James Rifle and Pistol Association, where he continued to expand his knowledge, pass it on to others, and enjoy the time he spent with the friends he made there.
Left to treasure his memory is his wife, Jo Ann Klug; a son, Mark Klug and wife Brandy; three step-granddaughters, Nima, Krystal, and Kelaura; a sister, Nancy Harris; a brother; Richard Klug; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in the Peacock – Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel.
