OAK ISLAND — Coy Overton, 80, of Oak Island, NC passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025.
Born May 26,1944 in Durham, NC, he was the son of Lester and Zola Overton. He was in the U.S. Navy SeaBees and served in Vietnam.
Coy had a wonderful sense of humor and liked everyone. He married his high school sweetheart, Ann, whom he met at age 16.
He held licensure in electrical, HVAC, plumbing and security systems. He and Ann ran a business in Durham for 17 years utilizing those skills. After retiring from this, he and Ann moved to Oak Island, realizing he couldn’t sit home, he joined the Dosher Memorial Hospital Plant Operations department, advancing to director, until his retirement.
In retirement, he and Ann would travel anywhere, on a whim. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Overton.
