Linda Faye Grove Cooper (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — Linda Faye Grove Cooper passed away on February 21, 2025.

She was born on March 14, 1945 in Wilmington, Ohio to the late Donald Ray and Helen Goodson Grove. She was predeceased by her Husband of 44 years, John Arnold Cooper on July 24, 2010, a very special companion Alexander Oldham McCarley on October 25, 2022, a niece, Sharon Matthews Bosarge on November 3, 2011, and a brother-in-law, Johnson Dale Matthews on January 20, 2017.

She is survived by one very special daughter, Tiffany Leigh Cooper, (Michael Johnsen) of Takoma Park, Maryland. She is also survived by three dear grandsons, Carter, Cameron, and Declan of Takoma Park, Maryland who were the light and loves of her life, a sister, Patricia Matthews of Lebanon, Ohio, a brother, Ronald Grove of Wilmington, Ohio, three nephews, Brian Matthews of Portsmouth, Ohio, Zachary Grove of California, Kentucky, Tyler Grove of Wilmington, Ohio and one niece, Crystal Becker of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Linda was a very caring, giving, and energetic woman with a very strong aptitude for life. She experienced many challenges in her life and met each one with determination and a positive attitude. She was an avid tennis, golf, and pickleball player. She loved her career of thirty-eight years as a School Counselor helping young people achieve success in their lives. She served as President of the North Carolina Counselor Association, was a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors, the Junior League of Wilmington, a charter member of the North Brunswick Kiwanis Club and a volunteer with the First Tee of Greater Wilmington. She was also a member of the Cape Fear Country Club where she served on the Golf Activities Committee and as the LGA Tar Heel Representative.

Linda’s greatest love, was for her family and friends and she worked tirelessly to ensure that she enriched their lives. Her daughter and son-in-law were very special to her. Her grandsons spent a great deal of special time with her during vacations. They called it “Boot Camp” with Mimi.

A service and reception to honor and remember her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 9th at First Presbyterian Church, 125 Third St., Wilmington, North Carolina. A Celebration of Life reception will be held this summer at the Cape Fear Country Club.
