WILMINGTON — Hedwig Massberger known to many as Hedy passed away peacefully Jan 20,2025. She will be remembered as a loving and amazing mother, granny, oma, and friend to many. She dedicated her life to her kids.
She was born in Munich Germany on Nov 3,1928 to Auguste Massberger and Georg Greger. She has several siblings who still reside there. She got married in the fifties and had her first two kids George Nowak(Barefoot Man) and Velma Jean(her only daughter) there before moving to the USA in the late fifties. Once in the US she had her other two sons Kedrick Fields (Bugsy) and her baby Benjamin Fields Sr. (BiBi). She dedicated her life to raising her kids and took great pride in them.
She loved to go to the Cayman Islands and see her oldest son George as much as she could, She was a stubborn lady who had to have things her way. She always enjoyed celebrating life with a shot of jager. One of her favorite things to do was going out to eat with Mario Martini whom she loved and cared for deeply. She always said he was a good egg. He has stayed by her side for the past 16 years. She enjoyed getting her nails done, watching TV and people watching.
Left to cherish her memories are Mario Martini who took care of her to the end and her two sons George Nowak(Regina) and Kedrick Fields: her grandchildren Jennifer Malpass (Danny),Dominic Pizzuto (Melissa),Heidi Sabot(Mike),Amy Lynn(Chris),Benjamin Fields Jr. known as Scooter, Nick Nowak(Linden),Chris Nowak, Dawn Sawyer, Joyce Jones, and Brooke Fitzgerald. She has many great grandchildren who will get to hear all the stories of her.
Preceding her in death and welcoming her to eternity are her parents, her daughter Velma Jean, her son Benjamin Fields sr and grandson Dennis Hartsfield.
A celebration of life is being planned for August so all her family can be together.
