Julia L. Conte, 92

Julia L. Conte (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

WILMINGTON — It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister on January 6, 2024, one day shy of her 93rd birthday.

Mom was born January 7, 1932, in Norwalk, CT, to the late Philip and Annunziata Conte. She was one of 7 children and so proud of her Italian heritage. She loved life and her family more than anything in this world.

Her favorite places to be were her kitchen or behind her sewing machine. She was a talented seamstress and an excellent cook and baker. Boy, could she cook! From homemade pasta, ravioli, pizza, chicken cacciatore, biscotti, there wasn’t anything she couldn’t cook! At Christmas, her favorite holiday, she would bake 12 kinds of cookies. Everything was from scratch, never from a box or jar. She taught her daughter everything she knew about cooking.

Mom was a Godly woman and read her Bible daily. She had the gift of mercy and would actively pray for both people she knew and people she didn’t know personally. She set an example for all of us. Mom would tell anyone and everyone she met about Jesus and what He did for her. The Lord was number one in her life and she is now in His presence.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Annette and husband, John Roy, who she lived with, with both taking care of her until her hospitalization; three grandchildren and their spouses: Erica Svab (Nick) of North Carolina, Stephanie Trujillo (Tony) of Florida and Jonathan Roy (Jaime) of North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren: Paige, River and Liberty Svab, Anthony and Maximus Trujillo and Julianna and Abigail Roy; two sisters: Dorothy Rena and Lucy Riccio, both of Connecticut, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, D. Domenic Tedesco; three brothers: Alexander, Anthony and Domenic and her sister, Mary.

The family would like to give a special thank-you to Kimberly and Frances for taking care of Mom and loving her like their own.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, January 12, 2025, in the chapel of Wilmington Funeral & Cremation, 1535 S. 41st St., Wilmington, NC 28403,. where the family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Julia’s name may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as Mom loved children, and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
