Michael Shafran (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

HAMPSTEAD — Michael Anthony Shafran, 75, of Hampstead, passed away, Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington, NC.

He was born July 29, 1949, in Sewickley, PA, to the late Michael and Irene Shafran.

Mike lived in Center Township, PA, near Pittsburgh, PA for 67 years. He worked at PennDot for 10 years and US Airways for 25 years. He raised his family and was faithful to going to church and serving the Lord. He moved to Hampstead, NC in February 2017 with his wife, Betty. Their dream was to move to the beach.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, drinking coffee, playing jokes on others, spending time with his kids and grandkids, going to the beach with his wife, playing games with friends and family, and watching Pittsburgh Steelers football games. Mike was a dedicated Christian who witnessed to everyone, and taught Sunday school and Bible study. He loved the Lord with all his heart and never went anywhere without his Bible.

Mike was a member and served as a Deacon at Providence Baptist Church in Holly Ridge, NC. He was a faithful husband, wonderful father, and loving Pop Pop. He was loved by everyone he met and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Shafran; children, Michael Shafran (Julie), Laura Bingham (Daniel), Scott Shafran (Hannah) and Julie Kozarovich (Daniel); 13 grandchildren, Michael Shafran (Cara), Anna Shafran, William Shafran, Emma Shafran, Brent Shafran, Eli Shafran, Anya Shafran, Ethan Shafran, Calvin Shafran, Azariah Kozarovich, Judson Kozarovich, Mitchell Kozarovich and Donnie Kozarovich; Siblings Richard Shafran, Loretta Kuhn, and Stephen Shafran and many nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will be held at 11am, Friday, January 10, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors one hour prior, beginning at 10am. Burial will follow the service at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
