Barbara Margarita Reyes, lovingly called “Baby” was born in Veguita, a municipality of Bayamo, Cuba.
An early childhood story about Baby, shared by our mother, reveals her discipline and intellectual abilities, from quite early. It is told to us, that while children around her own age, around five, where gathered playing and had mischievously torn plants in a garden, Baby was found in the house library, exploring a new book.
In her youth she trained in classical piano and enjoyed receiving high marks from her instructors and praise from her audience. Entering this country with her immediate family in 1967, she quickly learned the English language at Battin High School, and received honors.
Her career started early, with training as a teller in Summit Trust Bank, Linden, NJ, and quickly made head teller. In recognition of her leadership, the bank offered her additional training, which allowed her to achieve her many goals. Through the expand of her career she achieved lucrative activities in mastering the analytical side of the investment business. In recognition of her ability to combine the analytical with social graces she was granted complete start up and management of the Mini Mall – City Federal Bank in Elizabeth, NJ. The extent of her experience and successes allowed Barbara to expand from AVP and VP roles (Ironbound, Newark, NJ, Flemington National, and Hudson United). Throughout her career she was admirable in developing her associates, building lasting client relationships, finding ways to help foundations and most important helping people. In her retirement she experienced declining health issues, and mental issues (diagnosed bipolar).
Baby will always be remembered and is forever in our hearts. She is now in the special place Jesus made for her. She is in peace, full of health and joy. Baby, a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend is very loved and now resting in Peace. She is with all family and friends that have gone ahead. She enjoyed cooking, and all her dishes turned out tasty. It made her happy to hear it was delicious. She had a great capacity to love and no one was a stranger.
