WILMINGTON — Jerry Grant Foxbower, 76, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, surrounded by his loving family. He courageously battled cancer with unwavering perseverance.
Born on April 11, 1948, in Ohio, Jerry was a devoted family man who enjoyed reading and making people laugh. He dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving the community as a US Postal Worker for over three decades. Prior to his postal career, Jerry proudly served at Seaboard Coast Line (CSX), consistently demonstrating his strong work ethic as an exemplary employee throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carrie Anne Davis; his mother, Marjorie Frazier Foxbower; and his father, Leonard Foxbower.
Jerry will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his wife, Linda Foxbower; his daughter, Karen Elizabeth Brown, and her husband, David Alan Brown; his granddaughters, Ashley Quinlin Davis and Brooke Anastacia King; his grandson, William Joseph Foxbower (Billy); his brothers, Larry William Foxbower and his wife, Candice, Leslie Earl Foxbower, and Loren Lee Foxbower; his sisters, Laura Foxbower Helton and Linda Foxbower Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in his heart.
Jerry found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time with his cherished lapdogs, Annie and Barney. A proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, he served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Jerry was a passionate gun enthusiast and enjoyed the thrill of fishing. He also delighted in discovering “Special Treasures” at thrift stores and throughout his community.
A Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 7, in the Wilmington Chapel of Wilmington Funeral & Cremation Service, 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington, 28403. Jerry’s Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM in the Chapel.
