Bonnie Lynn Cassatt, 73

Bonnie Lynn Cassatt (Coastal Cremations and Funeral Care)

JACKSONVILLE — In the vibrant tapestry of life, some threads shine brighter than others, and Bonnie Lynn Cassatt was one of those glittering strands.

Born on February 1, 1951, in Oil City, PA, Bonnie graced this world with her presence for 73 fabulous years. She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family after a long battle with Huntington’s Disease on December 31, 2024, in Jacksonville, NC.

After high school, Bonnie’s educational journey in cosmetology began at Oil City Vo-Tech College, where she honed the skills that would define her professional life.

Bonnie spent her career making the world a more beautiful place, one haircut at a time at her beloved salon, Bonnie Cassatt’s- A Cut Above, in Oil City, PA. Her salon was not just a place for a trim but a hub of creativity where she and her husband sold an array of handmade crafts; together, they were a testament to a life lived in love and creativity.

A lover of all thing’s beauty, Bonnie had a knack for matching head to toe—an ensemble was never complete without her signature flair and jewelry. Never one to leave the house without makeup, her hair perfectly sprayed and, in a color, coordinated fashion all her own.

A woman of many talents and interests, Bonnie loved the beach, camping trips, singing, listening to karaoke, riding motorcycles with her husband and she enjoyed cooking, with her apple pie being particularly renowned among family and friends. She was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oil City, PA, where her voice added warmth to the choir.

As if she weren’t talented enough, Bonnie also painted. Her artistic spirit shone through in her slate hangings, and she took great joy in teaching classes to share her skills.

Surviving Bonnie is her loving husband of many years, Cecil Cassatt, who was her partner in both life and occasional mischief. Her legacy continues through her children: Jason Cassatt (Danielle) of Cameron, Lacey Bingle (C.J.) of Jacksonville, and Rebecca Shaner (Christopher) of Girard, PA. She adored her grandchildren: Jacob Sloan (Samantha), Charles Bingle, Lynken Bingle, MaKenna Ray, Briana Cassatt, Claudia Turner, Amber Gregory, and Tori Belke, along with her great-grandchildren: Robin Flacks, Lilith Sloan, Iris and Aria Fisher, Lily Turner, Carolina Turner, and Mason Price. Bonnie is also survived by her sister, Tina Goepfarth (Bill) of Oil City, PA; her brother, John Hogue (Lori) of Pittsburgh, PA; and her best friend, Linda Vogus, who shared many laughs and adventures.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hogue and Norma (Baker) Hogue.

A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2025 at Morrison Funeral Home in Oil City, PA from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. As we gather to celebrate Bonnie’s remarkable life, let us remember her with the same vibrancy she shared with the world.

Bonnie Lynn Cassatt lived life full of color and joy, bringing light and laughter to everyone she met. Her family was her greatest love, and she delighted in caring for them and spoiling her grandchildren. Always fun-loving, she truly enjoyed every moment, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.
