BURGAW — A kind and generous soul, a gracious and sharing lady, Patsy Meeks Caton, entered eternal rest peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 81 at her home. She was born October 14, 1943, in Pender County to George W. “Sonny” Meeks and Lanie Dell Chadwick Meeks.
In addition to her parents Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Bill” Caton III; and brothers, Teddy Wayne Meeks and George Alex Meeks.
Patsy retired as a medical transcriber at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after working 55 years.
Christmas was Patsy’s favorite time of the year, and all friends, co-workers, and family looked forward to Patsy’s famous fruit cake cookies. She had the recipe down to a science making and sharing hundreds of cookies each Christmas. In younger years Patsy and Bill enjoyed many games of bowling together. Patsy, following her mama’s love of family gatherings and being a delectable cook continued the tradition in her own family. First and foremost, Patsy loved her family; her grandchildren being bright shining lights in her life. Patsy was loved and will truly be missed.
Patsy is survived by her son, William “Billy” H. Caton IV (Tracy); daughter, Kimberly “Kim” Barnhill (Matthew); grandchildren, Vance Barnhill (Makayla), Lanie Jones (Wesley), Christopher Caton, and Morgan Caton; sisters, Carolyn Manship (Stan) and Linda Cowan Patterson (Dale); sister-in-law, Linda Meeks; and many extended family members and friends. Not to be forgotten is her constant companion Shih Tzu, Lou Lou.
