WILMINGTON — Kathleen M. Mulvehill (nee: Healy), resident of Wilmington, North Carolina died peacefully on December 29, 2024 after a courageous fight against a long illness with her family by her side. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on July 7, 1942 she was preceded in death by her parents, Timothy and Estelle (Giroux) Healy.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of twenty-eight years, Kevin Mulvehill. She is also survived by her former husband, William Dodds, Sr. and lovingly remembered by their children, Susan (Darrin) of North Bend, Washington, William (Katherine) of Cresskill, New Jersey, and Bradford (Maria) of West Long Branch, New Jersey. She is also remembered by Kevin’s children John (Christine) of Hamilton, Massachusetts, Kevin (Kim) of Sutton, Massachusetts, and James (Maria) of Westport, Connecticut. She was a proud and loving grandmother to her six grandchildren, Courtney, Claire, Will, Serenity, Noah and Matias, and to Kevin’s eight grandchildren, Grace, Lindsay, Caroline, Daniel, Adelaide, Eleanor, Charlotte, and Maeve.

Kathleen graduated from the Academy of St. Aloysius in Jersey City in 1960, and then worked successfully as a secretary for the broadcast division of CBS. She married William Dodds in 1966 and raised three loving children in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. While raising her children, Kathleen went on to attend college at nights at Montclair State University where she earned her teaching degree, and then continued with graduate school earning a master’s degree.

Kathleen spent 19 years working in the Dumont High School as keyboarding instructor and later as a computer teacher. She met Kevin in 1992 through a tennis mixer and they married in 1996, lived in Oakland, New Jersey and then onto Wilmington, North Carolina for a total of twenty-eight years.

It was through Kevin that she learned to play golf, spent more time traveling, and enjoyed spending part of her summers on Lake George. She especially loved enjoying a nice glass of wine and the summer evenings on the screened porch on the shores of the lake.

Her sense of humor, patience, and one of a kind personality will be missed by family and friends alike. Heaven is a better place now and may she rest in peace in God’s care.

A memorial service for Kathleen will be held in Wilmington, NC at a future date and interment will be in the Bolton Rural Cemetery in Bolton Landing, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Kathleen’s name to the American Cancer Society.
