Edsol Homer Rowell (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

ROCKY POINT — Edsol Homer Rowell, 90, of Rocky Point, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at Novant Health NHRMC.

He was born November 8, 1934, in Dillon, SC, to the late Paul Evans Rowell, Sr. and Ethel Mae Rowell. His family moved to Wilmington when he was 8 years old. Edsol enlisted in the Coast Guard, during the Korean War, and honorably served from December 1951 to June 1954. He loved to go drag racing with his wife and kids in tow. He was an avid hunter, and many special moments were spent with his friends and grandchildren hunting on his property.

He worked at General Electric for twenty-seven years. Edsol was a dedicated Kansas Chiefs fan and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #319, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry 32 degree, Sudan Shriners and American Legion Post #0167. When he retired, he spent his time doting on his daughters and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Rowell , Jr., and two sisters, Annie Lee Rowell Jones and Monnie Rowell Donaldson.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Jarrell Rowell; daughters, Debra Knott (Tony), Teresa Bennett (Jimmy), Lee Hall (Geoff), Emily Tate (Delain) and Karen Jarrell; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be sent to Shriners Hospital for Children and Coast Guard Foundation.
