WILMINGTON — Evelyn Noreen Francis Sinclair (Doodle) was born August 7, 1945 in Sampson County to Morris and Corrine Francis. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Johnny and sister Elaine Ruby Carter.
She is survived by sisters Janice Krontz (Steve) and Tammy Smith (Rodney). Five children Fran Bordeaux, Lisa Boggess (Ed) Melissa Faircloth, Michael Sinclair and Patti Glunt (Daniel). Seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Special friends Dorothy Streavel, Jerry Carroll, Linda Straughn, Dan and Judith Woodyard and Sheila and Barry Reeves.
Evelyn loved to work in the garden and orchids were her passion. She was the orchid queen and her knowledge of just about every single plant or flower on the Earth was astounding. If she didn’t know she would say “Let me check my books”. She loved the mountains and loved sitting by water. Didn’t matter if it was a pond or the beach. She was undeniably one of the funniest people you would ever meet. You never knew what was going to come out of her mouth. But you knew it would be funny. She retired from CVS in 2010 and became a professional piddler. She had her hands in all kinds of crafts and projects. In her later years she still had the passion for flowers and would get on her scooter and work in the yard. Sometimes she would scoot around the neighborhood and stay gone so long we would have to go look for her. We would always find her chatting with someone or hung up on a speed bump. But she would just sit there and wait patiently. She knew we’d come. She was kind hearted and a friend to everyone.
The family would like to thank the nurses and providers on the 5th and 7th floor at Novant and also Lower Cape Fear Life Center. You guys made a tough time a little easier with your gentle hands and kind hearts.
Good Night Gracie
