WILMINGTON — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Robert Glen Moore.
Robert (known affectionately as Bobby and Papa) was born in Diamond, Ohio on November 8, 1946 to Henry Moore and Clara (Evans) Moore. He was the second youngest of their six sons.
On June 26, 1968, he married Jill Amidon and together they raised their three sons in Ravenna, Ohio. The two of them shared many loving memories and adventures together over their 56-year marriage. In 2001, Bobby and Jill drove their car, packed with most of their belongings, to North Carolina in search of warmer weather.
Bobby was, first of all, a worshiper of Jehovah. He attended the Masonboro congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and he treasured his many spiritual brothers and sisters. He enjoyed metal detecting at the beach, wood working and his favorite hobby – professional storytelling. He often spoke of his childhood, growing up on a farm, adventures with his brothers and his love of baseball.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Charles, Ellis, Larry and Lester.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Jill, his brother Oliver, his sons Craig (wife Erin), Joshua (wife Melissa), Toby (wife Sara) and his four grandchildren, Roan, Jane, Cormac and Niall.
Bobby leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness and hard work. Family, friends and acquaintances witnessed a life well-lived by a very loving, caring, engaging and funny man. Per the families wish there will not be a public memorial service.
