Anne Covington Thompson (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

WILMINGTON — Anne Wilson Covington Thompson, the daughter of Annie and James Covington, spent her early years traveling back and forth from Virginia to Shanghai, China

She and her family settled in Richmond, VA and she attended St. Catherine’s school, a which she attended Mt. Holyoke. After graduation, she married Dr. Chandler Thompson, whom she survived.

When her parents retired from Richmond to Martinsville, VA to their family ancestral home, Beaver Creek, the extended Covington family enjoyed many years of happy gatherings there.

Her six children, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren have all survived her.

She lived in Charlottesville, VA for many years, and then due to health problems moved to Wilmington, NC. She returned to Charlottesville in September to once more be close to the Virginia mountains she so loved, where she died peacefully and connected by the love of all her children.

There will be a private family graveside service at her ancestral home in Martinsville, Virginia.
