KURE BEACH — Jean Dillon Prete formally from Cromwell, Connecticut passed away at the age of 82. Jean passed peacefully on August 2 at her home surrounded by her loving family and husband of 59 years.
Born February 26, 1942, Jean was the daughter of the late John “Bernie” Dillon and Mary Valk Dillon of Cromwell, Connecticut. Jean was a graduate of Cromwell High School and St. Francis School of Nursing. She had a long career in Obstetrical nursing at Middlesex Memorial Hospital. Jean was a talented gardener, enjoyed cooking, traveling and hunting for tag sale treasures with her girlfriends. Jean designed her dream beach home in Kure Beach, North Carolina and brought her northern flair to the island which she shared with her devoted husband for the past 20 years.
Jean is survived by her husband John Anthony Prete formally from Middletown, Connecticut and her three daughters, Bridget Ward, Jamie Caputo and Kerry Wagner; seven grandchildren, Ryan Piers, Austen Piers, Olivia Ward, Quinn Wagner, Aidan Wagner, Carly Caputo, John (JT) Caputo. Jean is survived by her brother Joseph Dillon of Newnan, Georgia.
At the request of the family, there will be a private ceremony to celebrate Jean’s life.
